30 MARCH 2018 • 1:37PM It may seem like the entire adult population is glued to their smartphone screens, but getting the next generation interested in the practical aspects of technology, in particular coding, has proved a roadblock to tackling the UK’s skills gap. School leavers with skills in science, technology, engineering and maths are in short supply, and just 2pc of UK A-level students sit computing exams.
